Step 1 of 8

Hi, I'm the MedPaw dose helper. Let's see how MedPaw compares for your dog.

First, roughly how big is your dog?

Quick answer: the main problem with CVET NutriCareVet Canine Joint Support is how little you can check before you buy. The only public UK review we could find is a 2 star review of the soft chews from an owner whose dogs wouldn't eat them, the tablets have no reviews at all, and there's no money-back guarantee published by the brand. The soft chew label doesn't give a chew weight, so you can't work out how much of anything is in each chew, and several of the tablet's actives have no amounts either. The "Rated 4.6/5" you'll see on PDSA Pet Store is for the whole shop, not this product. If any of that puts you off, we'd recommend trying MedPaw Hip & Joint Chews instead: a soft chew dogs take like a treat, with all six key joint actives and the main amounts per chew on the label, a subscription you can pause or cancel any time, and a 60-day money-back guarantee with nothing to send back.

Transparency note: this page is written by MedPaw, which makes a competing joint supplement. Reviews are quoted word for word with links so you can check them. Ratings, labels and terms were checked on 8 October 2026.

The most common NutriCareVet complaints and drawbacks

NutriCareVet is the supplement range from Covetrus, a veterinary supply company, labelled "CVET" on PDSA Pet Store. It's sold mainly through vets, PDSA Pet Store and online vet pharmacies, and we found just one public owner review of its dog joint products. So the table below combines that review with the drawbacks we could verify on the product pages.

NutriCareVet Canine Joint Support complaints and drawbacks (checked 8 October 2026)

Complaint How often What reviewers said or what we found
Dog won't eat it The only review we found Neither of the reviewer's two dogs would eat the soft chews
No difference The same review No change after about two weeks
Almost no reviews Applies to every buyer One review for the soft chews, none for the tablets, and no Trustpilot page for the brand
No guarantee Applies to every buyer No money-back guarantee published; PDSA only takes back unopened items
Amounts you can't check Both products Soft chew weight not published; tablet amounts not given for MSM, green-lipped mussel, willow bark or turmeric
Allergens Both products No allergen statement; the tablets contain poultry, milk, fish and mussel, the chews wheat, soya, chicken, fish, krill and egg

"Neither of my dogs will eat these"

That's how the only review of the soft chews on PDSA Pet Store begins (Sarah S., 2 stars). The owner describes cutting the chews up small and hiding them in other food, and seeing no difference in either dog after about two weeks. Two weeks is early for any joint supplement, but a chew your dog won't take makes it hard to get that far.

Labels that leave out the amounts

    • Soft chews: the label gives percentages (glucosamine 5%, chondroitin 2%, egg shell membrane 1%) and per-kg figures, but not the weight of a chew, so you can't work out how much is in each one. There's no MSM or green-lipped mussel.
    • Tablets: the 85 tablet pot weighs each tablet at 2.5g, which works out at about 225mg glucosamine and 100mg chondroitin per tablet on our calculation, but MSM, green-lipped mussel, willow bark and turmeric have no amounts. Boswellia works out at about 2mg per tablet.
    • Awkward dosing: the tablets are one per 10kg a day, so a 25kg dog needs two and a half.
    • Listings that don't match: one retailer's soft chew page showed the tablet ingredients and tablet dosing when we checked, so check the pack you receive.

    The guarantee catch

We couldn't find any money-back guarantee from Covetrus or NutriCareVet. If you buy from PDSA Pet Store, you can only return items within 25 days if they're unopened and unused, you pay the return postage (deducted from your refund), and you must email first and wait for a returns form (PDSA Pet Store refund policy). So if your dog won't eat an opened pack, you're unlikely to get your money back.

Why NutriCareVet customers switch to MedPaw

MedPaw Hip & Joint Chews differ from NutriCareVet on exactly the points above.

NutriCareVet vs MedPaw on the things that matter to owners

    The complaint NutriCareVet MedPaw
Getting your money back No guarantee published; PDSA takes back unopened items only, at your cost 60 days from delivery, for any reason; email us and keep the tub
Dog won't eat it Chicken-flavoured chew the only reviewer's dogs refused, or a chewable tablet Soft chicken and bacon chew, given from your hand like a treat
Knowing what's in it Soft chew: percentages only, no chew weight; tablet: several actives without amounts All six key joint actives, with the main amounts per chew on the label: MSM 185mg, glucosamine 170mg, chondroitin 70mg, green-lipped mussel 70mg, Boswellia 30mg, plus hyaluronic acid
MSM and green-lipped mussel in a chew Neither in the soft chew Both in every chew
Regular delivery No subscribe option on PDSA Pet Store Subscription you can pause, change or cancel any time from your account, or just email us

Our recommendation: if your dog won't eat NutriCareVet, you want to know the main amounts in each chew, or you'd like a guarantee that covers an opened pack, switch to MedPaw. Swap rather than stack: stop NutriCareVet and start MedPaw the next day. Give it six to eight weeks, and if you're not happy, email us within 60 days and we'll refund you. Try MedPaw Hip & Joint Chews.

    NutriCareVet's rating, in context

NutriCareVet Canine Joint Support has no meaningful rating. The soft chews have 2 out of 5 from a single review on PDSA Pet Store, and the tablets have none (checked 8 October 2026). The "Rated 4.6/5" and 2,430 reviews shown on those pages are for PDSA Pet Store as a whole, not for NutriCareVet, and the shop's own Trustpilot page doesn't mention this product. We found no ratings at Pet Drugs Online, Vet Pharmacy or Chemist.net, and couldn't access Amazon UK or VetUK.

To be fair to NutriCareVet, its tablets give a clear amount of glucosamine and chondroitin per tablet at a reasonable price, and they add devil's claw and a little fish oil.

If nothing has worked so far

If your dog is still stiff or sore after a fair trial of any supplement, see your vet. They may suggest pain relief, weight loss or an omega-3 fish oil at a proper dose, which has the strongest evidence for dogs with arthritis. Read what you can safely give a dog for joint pain and the best fish oil for dogs' joints.

    Our verdict

NutriCareVet has almost no owner reviews, and the one we found is from an owner whose dogs wouldn't eat the chews. Add labels you can't fully check, no published guarantee and opened packs that can't be returned, and it's a risky buy. If that's put you off, MedPaw is the alternative we'd recommend. A 2022 vet news story about a "veterinary strength joint aid" was about Nutravet's Nutraflex, not NutriCareVet; see our Nutraquin reviews for that maker. You can also compare joint supplements vets commonly suggest or read about joint supplement side effects.

What are the most common complaints about NutriCareVet?

There's only one public UK review we could find: a 2 star review of the soft chews saying neither of the owner's dogs would eat them and there was no difference after two weeks. Other drawbacks are the lack of reviews, no published money-back guarantee, and labels that don't give the amount of every active per chew or tablet.

Is NutriCareVet joint support any good?

There isn't enough review evidence to say. The tablets list a clear amount of glucosamine and chondroitin, but the soft chews don't publish a chew weight, and there's no guarantee if it doesn't suit. If you want a soft chew with all six key joint actives and a 60-day money-back guarantee, MedPaw is the alternative we'd recommend.

    Who makes CVET NutriCareVet?

NutriCareVet is Covetrus's own supplement range, labelled "CVET" on PDSA Pet Store. The pages we checked don't name the manufacturer or factory. It's sold through vets, PDSA Pet Store and online vet pharmacies.

    Does NutriCareVet contain allergens?

Neither product carries an allergen statement. The tablets contain poultry, milk, fish (salmon oil), green-lipped mussel and yeast; the soft chews contain wheat, soya, chicken, fish, krill and egg. The tablets also include willow bark and devil's claw, so ask your vet first if your dog takes other medication. MedPaw contains mollusc (green-lipped mussel) and gluten (brewer's yeast).

What's the best alternative to NutriCareVet?

If your dog won't eat it, you want the main amounts per chew on the label, or you'd like a guarantee, we'd recommend MedPaw Hip & Joint Chews: a soft chew with all six key joint actives and a 60-day money-back guarantee. Swap rather than stack, and give it six to eight weeks.

Can I switch from NutriCareVet to MedPaw straight away?

Yes. Stop NutriCareVet and start MedPaw the next day. There's no need for a gap, and you shouldn't give both. Check with your vet first if your dog takes any medication.
