Quick answer: the main problem with VetIQ joint care is that you can't tell whether it works: VetIQ's own site shows no reviews for any of its dog joint products, it has no Trustpilot profile we could find, and we could read just two retailer reviews. Beyond that, three of its four joint supplements are tablets, the amounts per tablet and the feeding guides are only shown on pack images rather than in text, the chews leave out chondroitin and Boswellia, and the 28-day money-back guarantee means contacting customer care first and returning the product in its original packaging. With so few reviews, there's no meaningful rating to go on. If any of that sounds familiar, we'd recommend trying MedPaw Hip & Joint Chews instead: a soft chew dogs take like a treat, with all six key joint actives and the main amounts per chew on the label, a subscription you can pause or cancel any time, and a 60-day money-back guarantee with nothing to send back.
Transparency note: this page is written by MedPaw, which makes a competing joint supplement. Reviews are summarised in our own words with links so you can check them. Ratings, labels and terms were checked on 8 October 2026.
The most common VetIQ complaints and drawbacks
We checked VetIQ's own product pages, VetUK, Jollyes, trolley.co.uk, Tesco, Home Bargains and zooplus for reviews of VetIQ's UK dog joint range. We found only two, both 5 stars, and no negative reviews. Amazon and Pets at Home, both major VetIQ stockists, block automated access, so we couldn't read reviews there. So rather than invent complaints, the table below sets out the drawbacks we could verify from VetIQ's own pages.
VetIQ joint care drawbacks (checked 8 October 2026)
| Drawback | Which products | What we found |
|---|---|---|
| Almost no reviews | The whole joint range | No reviews on VetIQ's own site, no Trustpilot profile, and two retailer reviews in total, one from an owner who had only just started |
| Tablet format | Joint Care Adult, Extra+ Senior, Arthriti-UM Advanced | Tablets, which some dogs refuse or spit out |
| Amounts hard to check | Adult and Senior tablets, and the chews | Amounts per tablet and the feeding guides are on pack images only; the chews give no amount for MSM or hyaluronic acid |
| Ingredients that don't match | Joint Care Adult | The description mentions manganese and vitamins C and E, which aren't in the ingredient list |
| Missing actives | Joint Care Supplement Chews | No chondroitin or Boswellia |
| Allergens | Tablets and chews | Tablets contain fish and crustacean ingredients (krill); chews contain turkey, poultry protein, whey and salmon oil, with no allergen declaration on the page |
"See back of pack": labels you can't easily read
On VetIQ's Joint Care Adult page, the ingredients are listed in text but the dosage guide is an image and the amounts per tablet are left to the back of the pack. The same page describes a formula with manganese and vitamins C and E that don't appear in its own ingredient list. The Joint Care Supplement Chews list 375mg glucosamine, 180mg green-lipped mussel and 225mg salmon oil per chew, but give no amount for MSM or hyaluronic acid, and the feeding guide is again an image.
Joint treats with very little in them
VetIQ's Healthy Treats Joint Care are listed by VetUK at 0.115% glucosamine, 0.043% chondroitin and 0.025% MSM. At around 6 calories a treat, that's only a few milligrams of glucosamine each, so they're treats with a joint theme rather than a supplement dose.
The guarantee catch
VetIQ's site advertises a "28 Day Money Back Guarantee", but its returns page doesn't explain how it works. It says to contact customer care before sending anything, to return items within 28 days of delivery in their original packaging, and it doesn't say whether opened products qualify or who pays postage for an ordinary change of mind. If you subscribe, you need to cancel at least 24 hours before your renewal date or the next order is charged (Subscribe & Save terms).
Why VetIQ customers switch to MedPaw
MedPaw Hip & Joint Chews differ from VetIQ on exactly the points above.
VetIQ vs MedPaw on the things that matter to owners
| The complaint | VetIQ | MedPaw |
|---|---|---|
| Dog won't take tablets | Adult, Senior and Arthriti-UM are tablets | Soft chicken and bacon chew, given from your hand like a treat |
| Knowing what's in it | Tablet amounts on pack images only; chews list no chondroitin or Boswellia | All six key joint actives, with the main amounts per chew on the label: MSM 185mg, glucosamine 170mg, chondroitin 70mg, green-lipped mussel 70mg, Boswellia 30mg, plus hyaluronic acid |
| Getting your money back | 28 days; contact customer care first; return in original packaging | 60 days from delivery, for any reason; email us and keep the tub |
| Cancelling the subscription | At least 24 hours before renewal, or the next order is charged | Pause, change or cancel any time from your account, or just email us |
| Knowing how much to give | Feeding guides shown as images on VetIQ's site | 1 chew a day up to 4kg, 2 for 5 to 17kg, 2 to 3 for 18kg and over |
Our recommendation: if your dog fights you over tablets, you want to see the main amounts in each dose without squinting at pack photos, or you'd like chondroitin, MSM and Boswellia in one chew, switch to MedPaw. Swap rather than stack: stop VetIQ and start MedPaw the next day. Give it six to eight weeks, and if you're not happy, email us within 60 days and we'll refund you. Try MedPaw Hip & Joint Chews.
VetIQ's rating, in context
VetIQ doesn't have a meaningful rating for its joint care. Every dog joint product on VetIQ's own site shows no reviews, we found no Trustpilot profile, and the only two reviews we could read were 5 stars for Arthriti-UM Advanced at Jollyes (from an owner who said it was too early to tell) and 5 stars for the Joint & Hip treats at VetUK (checked 8 October 2026). Two reviews can't tell you whether VetIQ will help your dog's joints. Also note that VetIQ chews sold in the USA are a different product line, so US reviews don't apply to the UK range.
To be fair to VetIQ, it's cheap and easy to find in Pets at Home and Jollyes, and its chews list more glucosamine (375mg) and green-lipped mussel (180mg) per chew than many rivals, plus salmon oil.
If nothing has worked so far
If your dog is still stiff or sore after a fair trial of any supplement, see your vet. They may suggest pain relief, weight loss or an omega-3 fish oil at a proper dose, which has the strongest evidence for dogs with arthritis. Read what you can safely give a dog for joint pain and the best fish oil for dogs' joints.
Our verdict
VetIQ is a budget range with almost no public reviews, mostly tablets, labels that are hard to check online and chews without chondroitin or Boswellia. Its guarantee is short and vague on whether opened products count. If you want a chew with all six key joint actives and a clearer guarantee, MedPaw is the alternative we'd recommend. For more on the actives VetIQ's chews leave out, read our guides to Boswellia for dogs and glucosamine and chondroitin, or see green-lipped mussel for dogs.
What are the most common complaints about VetIQ?
We found no negative reviews of VetIQ joint products in the sources we could read, because there are hardly any reviews at all. The drawbacks we could verify are the lack of reviews, the tablet format, amounts and feeding guides shown only on pack images, chews without chondroitin or Boswellia, and a 28-day guarantee that requires contacting customer care and returning the product in its original packaging.
Is VetIQ joint care any good?
There isn't enough review evidence to say. VetIQ's own site shows no reviews for its dog joint products, and we could read only two retailer reviews. It's cheap and widely stocked, but if you want a soft chew with all six key joint actives and a 60-day money-back guarantee, MedPaw is the alternative we'd recommend.
Does VetIQ joint care contain allergens?
VetIQ says its Joint Care Adult and Extra+ Senior tablets contain fish and crustacean ingredients (krill meal). The chews contain turkey meal, poultry protein, whey powder, salmon oil and green-lipped mussel. MedPaw also contains mollusc (green-lipped mussel) and gluten (brewer's yeast), so check with your vet if your dog has allergies.
Can I get a refund from VetIQ?
VetIQ advertises a 28-day money-back guarantee. Its returns page says to contact customer care first and return items within 28 days of delivery in their original packaging; it doesn't say whether opened products qualify. MedPaw's guarantee lasts 60 days and you don't need to send anything back.
What's the best alternative to VetIQ?
If your dog won't take tablets, or you want chondroitin, MSM, green-lipped mussel and Boswellia in one chew with the main amounts on the label, we'd recommend MedPaw Hip & Joint Chews. Swap rather than stack, and give it six to eight weeks.
Can I switch from VetIQ to MedPaw straight away?
Yes. Stop VetIQ and start MedPaw the next day. There's no need for a gap, and you shouldn't give both. Check with your vet first if your dog takes any medication.
