Quick answer: the main drawbacks with Beaphar's dog joint products are what you can't see. Beaphar doesn't publish how much glucosamine or chondroitin is in each Joint Tablet, its Flexifit chew page shows two different analyses, and there's no money-back guarantee. The Joint Tablets have also disappeared from Beaphar's UK website. Reviews are too thin to settle it either way: the only product rating we found was 4.4 out of 5 from five reviews at Jollyes, the newest from March 2024. If you want to see the main amounts your dog is getting, we'd recommend trying MedPaw Hip & Joint Chews instead: a soft chew dogs take like a treat, with all six key joint actives and the main amounts per chew on the label, a subscription you can pause or cancel any time, and a 60-day money-back guarantee with nothing to send back.
Transparency note: this page is written by MedPaw, which makes a competing joint supplement. Reviews are summarised in our own words with links so you can check them. Ratings, labels and policies were checked on 8 October 2026.
The most common Beaphar complaints and drawbacks
Beaphar sells three joint products for dogs through retailers: the liver-flavoured Joint Tablets (pot of 60), the Flexifit Dog Chews with UC-II collagen (30 chews) and the Flexifit Dog Treats. There are very few reviews of any of them, and we found no negative reviews of the joint products. So this table covers the drawbacks we could verify, plus what the few reviews say.
Beaphar joint product drawbacks (checked 8 October 2026)
| Complaint or drawback | How often | What we found |
|---|---|---|
| Amounts not published | Joint Tablets | No retailer or Beaphar page we checked gives the glucosamine or chondroitin per tablet |
| Two different analyses | Flexifit chew page | Beaphar's own page lists two sets of figures (crude protein 15.3% in one, 9% in the other) without saying which is current |
| No money-back guarantee | Whole range | None on any Beaphar UK page we checked; retailer returns policies apply |
| Hard to find | Joint Tablets and Flexifit chews | The Joint Tablets no longer appear on Beaphar's UK site, and one trade supplier lists the Flexifit chew as discontinued, though Beaphar still shows it |
| Long loading phase | Joint Tablets | A higher dose for about 4 to 6 weeks, and the dose tables differ between retailers |
| Too early to tell | 1 of the 4 distinct Jollyes reviews | An owner who hadn't used the tablets long enough to judge |
"What's actually in it?"
The Joint Tablets contain glucosamine, chondroitin and vitamin E, but the amount of each per tablet isn't on VetUK, Jollyes or any other listing we found. There's no MSM, green-lipped mussel, Boswellia or hyaluronic acid.
The Flexifit chew gives 40mg of UC-II collagen per chew, plus glucosamine at 4.3% of the chew. Beaphar doesn't publish the chew weight, so you can't work out the glucosamine in milligrams. It contains chicken, fish, and molluscs and crustaceans (the glucosamine source), and the two different analyses on the same page make it hard to know which label is current.
"Where's it gone?"
The Joint Tablets aren't on Beaphar's UK website any more, and they're missing from VetUK's current Beaphar supplement filter, although the old VetUK product page still loads. zooplus UK doesn't list the Joint Tablets or the Flexifit range. Beaphar hasn't said whether the tablets have been discontinued, so if your dog is on them, check stock before you run out.
The guarantee catch
Beaphar sells through retailers, and we found no money-back guarantee on any of its UK product or joint care pages. That leaves you with the retailer's normal returns policy, which typically covers unopened products only. If the tablets don't help your dog, you're unlikely to get your money back.
Why Beaphar customers switch to MedPaw
MedPaw Hip & Joint Chews differ from Beaphar on exactly the points above.
Beaphar vs MedPaw on the drawbacks above
| The complaint | Beaphar | MedPaw |
|---|---|---|
| Knowing what's in it | Joint Tablets: amounts not published. Flexifit chews: UC-II 40mg, glucosamine as a percentage only | All six key joint actives, with the main amounts per chew on the label: MSM 185mg, glucosamine 170mg, chondroitin 70mg, green-lipped mussel 70mg, Boswellia 30mg, plus hyaluronic acid |
| A broader formula | Tablets: glucosamine, chondroitin and vitamin E; no MSM, green-lipped mussel or Boswellia | Glucosamine, chondroitin, MSM, green-lipped mussel, Boswellia and hyaluronic acid in one chew |
| Getting your money back | No guarantee found; retailer returns policies apply | 60 days from delivery, for any reason; email us and keep the tub |
| Loading phase | Joint Tablets: higher dose for about 4 to 6 weeks | Double for just the first three weeks |
| Regular deliveries | No Beaphar subscription; you buy from retailers | Pause, change or cancel any time from your account, or just email us |
Our recommendation: if you want to see the main amounts in each dose, you can't find Beaphar's tablets any more, or you'd like the security of a guarantee, switch to MedPaw. Swap rather than stack: stop Beaphar and start MedPaw the next day. Give it six to eight weeks, and if you're not happy, email us within 60 days and we'll refund you. Try MedPaw Hip & Joint Chews.
Beaphar's rating, in context
The only product-specific rating we found was 4.4 out of 5 from five reviews of the Joint Tablets at Jollyes, but one review appears twice, the oldest dates from 2020 and the newest from March 2024. Beaphar UK's Trustpilot score is 3.3 out of 5 from just four reviews, three of them 1 star and none about joint products (checked 8 October 2026). Neither tells you whether today's products will help your dog. We couldn't access Amazon UK or Pets at Home.
To be fair to Beaphar, the few owners who reviewed the Joint Tablets were positive, some say their dog likes the liver flavour, and it's one of the cheaper joint products on the market.
If nothing has worked so far
If your dog is still stiff or sore after a fair trial of any supplement, see your vet. They may suggest pain relief, weight loss or an omega-3 fish oil at a proper dose, which has the strongest evidence for dogs with arthritis. Our verdict
Beaphar's joint products are cheap, but you're buying with very little to go on: almost no reviews, no published amounts on the Joint Tablets, a chew page with conflicting analyses, patchy availability and no money-back guarantee. If you want clarity and a way to get your money back, MedPaw is the alternative we'd recommend. What are the most common complaints about Beaphar joint supplements?
We found no negative reviews of the joint products, mainly because there are so few reviews. The drawbacks we could verify are that the Joint Tablets don't publish their amounts, the Flexifit chew page shows two different analyses, there's no money-back guarantee, and the Joint Tablets no longer appear on Beaphar's UK site.
Are Beaphar joint tablets any good?
There's too little evidence to say. They have 4.4 out of 5 from five reviews at Jollyes, the newest from March 2024, and Beaphar doesn't publish how much glucosamine or chondroitin is in each tablet. If you want all six key joint actives with the main amounts on the label, and a 60-day money-back guarantee, try MedPaw.
Have Beaphar joint tablets been discontinued?
Beaphar hasn't said so, but the Joint Tablets no longer appear on its UK website, and they're missing from VetUK's current Beaphar supplement range, although some retailer pages for them still load. Check stock before you run out.
Can I get a refund on Beaphar joint products?
We found no Beaphar money-back guarantee. You'd rely on the retailer's returns policy, which usually covers unopened products only. MedPaw's guarantee lasts 60 days from delivery and you don't need to send anything back.
What's the best alternative to Beaphar?
If you want to see the main amounts your dog is getting, we'd recommend MedPaw Hip & Joint Chews: all six key joint actives with the main amounts per chew on the label, a soft chew given like a treat, and a 60-day money-back guarantee. Swap rather than stack, and give it six to eight weeks.
Can I switch from Beaphar to MedPaw straight away?
Yes. Stop Beaphar and start MedPaw the next day. There's no need for a gap, and you shouldn't give both. If your dog has a shellfish allergy, note that MedPaw contains green-lipped mussel, and check with your vet first if your dog takes any medication.
