Quick answer: if you only want to stop the joint chews, you don't need to cancel tails.com: remove them from your next box in your account (Deliveries, then "View full delivery details", then edit the item and reduce it to zero). To cancel tails.com altogether, go to your Dashboard, choose My account, then "Cancel Deliveries", pick a reason and confirm, or contact tails.com through its help form. Either way, do it on or before the "last date for changes" shown on your dashboard, because tails.com takes payment a day or two before delivery and can't cancel a delivery once it's in progress. If you're done with the tails.com chews, we'd recommend trying MedPaw Hip & Joint Chews instead: all six key joint actives, a subscription you can pause, change or cancel any time from your account, or just email us, and a 60-day money-back guarantee with nothing to send back.
Transparency note: this page is written by MedPaw, which makes a competing joint supplement. tails.com's terms and help pages are quoted word for word with links, and reviews are quoted word for word with a link so you can check them. Everything was checked on 8 October 2026.
How to remove the joint chews but keep tails.com food
The joint chews launched as an add-on to the tails.com box. If you're happy with the food and only want to drop the chews, tails.com's help article on removing items from your box (updated 11 June 2026) gives these steps:
- Log in and open Deliveries. "Head to the 'Deliveries' section of your online account."
- Open your next box. "Click on your next scheduled delivery by selecting 'View full delivery details'".
- Edit the joint chews. "Click on 'edit' next to the item you'd like to remove from your order".
- Reduce to zero and save. "Click on the minus sign (-) to reduce the quantity or remove it entirely from your order and select 'Update.'" A message confirms the item has been removed.
- Check the box after next. The article talks about your next box, so check that the chews haven't come back on later deliveries.
How to cancel a tails.com subscription, step by step
These steps come from tails.com's How to cancel help article (updated 11 June 2026) and its terms and conditions (last updated 30 December 2020).
- Find your "last date for changes". The terms say: "Your subscription must be cancelled on or before the last date for changes to your order shown on your dashboard." Changes need to be made more than 24 hours before the order is packed and shipped. Orders cancelled after that date are still charged and delivered.
- Log in to your Dashboard. tails.com asks you to make sure you're logged in first.
- Choose My account, then "Cancel Deliveries". The help article says: "Choose My account from the menu bar", then "Choose 'Cancel Deliveries' again on the next page."
- Give a reason and confirm. "Select your reason for leaving", then "Confirm cancellation as the final step." You'll get a confirmation email.
- Or contact the team. The help article offers a contact form. It doesn't list a phone number.
- Keep the confirmation and check your statement. Save the email, and check that no payment is taken for your next delivery date.
If you've already been charged, or the box is on its way
- Payment is taken before delivery. tails.com says: "We typically attempt to take payment for your dog's Tails.com order 1 to 2 days before your delivery window begins" (billing article).
- Deliveries in progress can't be stopped. tails.com's older cancellation article says: "we can't cancel an existing delivery once it's in progress" (help centre).
- Returns: email within 7 working days. The terms ask you to email hello@tails.com from your account's email address with the product and your reason: "Please do this within 7 working days of receiving your product from us." Refunds can take up to 10 working days to reach your account.
- Unexpected charges: tails.com's help article says a duplicate may be a pending authorisation that drops off in a day or two, and to contact the team if it doesn't.
Pausing or skipping instead
If you only want a break, tails.com's pause article says to choose "Pause/delay deliveries" in Quick Links, then "Pause Deliveries", pick how long, and "Save and continue". You can also delay or skip a month from "Manage box". Again, check the last date for changes: once an order is in progress, the date can't be changed.
Why some owners want to cancel
tails.com is rated 4.4 on Trustpilot, mostly for its food, but its low-rated reviews include complaints about cancelling and charges. A few recent examples from tails.com's Trustpilot reviews:
- "Unable to cancel my accounts so will have to cancel my direct debit." (Hannah M., 1 star, September 2026)
- "the initial trial was automatically converted into a full subscription and dispatched." (Graham L., 2 stars, July 2026)
- "They took the payment still last week (over £50)" (Isacc C., 1 star, August 2026)
These are about tails.com as a whole rather than the joint chews, which have almost no reviews. For the full picture on the chews, read our tails.com joint supplement reviews.
Why tails.com customers switch to MedPaw
tails.com vs MedPaw on subscriptions, refunds and what's in the chew
| The issue | tails.com | MedPaw |
|---|---|---|
| Cancelling | On or before the last date for changes; deliveries in progress can't be cancelled | Pause, change or cancel any time from your account, or just email us |
| Getting your money back | No guarantee we could find; email within 7 working days of receiving your product | 60 days from delivery, for any reason; email us and keep the tub |
| Buying the joint chew | Through a tails.com subscription or its shop | Direct from us; no food subscription needed |
| What's in it | Glucosamine, green-lipped mussel, hyaluronic acid, turmeric; no amounts per chew | All six key joint actives, with the main amounts per chew on the label |
Our recommendation: if you're leaving tails.com, or just dropping its joint chews, switch to MedPaw. Swap rather than stack: finish or stop the tails.com chews and start MedPaw the next day. Give it six to eight weeks, and if you're not happy, email bark@medpaw.co.uk within 60 days of delivery and we'll refund you, with nothing to send back. Try MedPaw Hip & Joint Chews.
If nothing has worked so far
If your dog is still stiff or sore after a fair trial of any supplement, see your vet. They may suggest pain relief, weight loss or an omega-3 fish oil at a proper dose, which has the strongest evidence for dogs with arthritis.
