Hi, I'm the MedPaw dose helper. Let's see how MedPaw compares for your dog.

First, roughly how big is your dog?

In this article

Quick answer: the tails.com joint supplement is a bacon-flavoured soft chew with glucosamine, green-lipped mussel, hyaluronic acid and turmeric, sold mainly as an add-on to a tails.com food subscription. It doesn't publish amounts per chew, it has no chondroitin, MSM or Boswellia, it has almost no reviews and we couldn't find a guarantee. MedPaw is a soft chew with all six key joint actives, the main amounts per chew on the label and a 60-day money-back guarantee, and you don't need a food subscription to get it. For most dogs, we'd recommend MedPaw Hip & Joint Chews, especially if you want to see what's in each dose or want a broader formula.

Transparency note: this page is written by MedPaw, which makes a competing joint supplement. tails.com's details come from its own shop and help centre, linked so you can check them. We've said clearly where tails.com comes out ahead. Everything was checked on 8 October 2026.

Where the tails.com joint supplement falls short

    Three key actives, not six

tails.com's chew has three of the six key joint actives: glucosamine, green-lipped mussel and hyaluronic acid, plus turmeric. It has no chondroitin, MSM or Boswellia. MedPaw has all six. If you've been told your dog needs glucosamine and chondroitin together, the tails.com chew alone won't give you that.

    No amounts per chew

The shop page lists each ingredient as a percentage but doesn't give the weight of a chew, and the help centre names the actives without amounts. So you can't tell how many milligrams of glucosamine or green-lipped mussel your dog gets. MedPaw prints the main amounts per chew.

Almost no reviews, and no guarantee

The shop page shows "(No reviews yet)", and we found one Trustpilot review that clearly described the joint chews. We couldn't find a money-back guarantee, and tails.com's terms ask you to raise a return within 7 working days of receiving your product. Read our tails.com joint supplement reviews for the full picture.

    Tied to a food subscription

The chews launched as add-ons for tails.com subscribers, and the daily amount is calculated from the weight in your dog's profile. That's convenient if you already get tails.com food, but it means changes run on tails.com's schedule: you need to make them by the "last date for changes" shown on your dashboard.

Why tails.com customers switch to MedPaw

tails.com vs MedPaw on the issues that matter day to day

The issue tails.com Joint Support MedPaw
Breadth of formula Glucosamine, green-lipped mussel, hyaluronic acid, turmeric All six key joint actives, plus vitamins C and E and zinc
Knowing the dose Percentages only Main amounts per chew on the label
Trying it without risk No guarantee we could find 60-day money-back guarantee, nothing to send back
Changing or cancelling By the last date for changes on your dashboard Pause, change or cancel any time

Our recommendation: if you want chondroitin, MSM and Boswellia as well, want to see the amounts in each chew, or want a guarantee long enough to judge results, choose MedPaw. You can keep your tails.com food and remove only the joint chews. Give MedPaw six to eight weeks, and if you're not happy, email bark@medpaw.co.uk within 60 days of delivery for a refund. Try MedPaw Hip & Joint Chews.

When the tails.com joint supplement might suit your dog instead

To be fair to tails.com, its chew can be the better choice in some cases:

    • You want turmeric. The tails.com chew contains turmeric (3.3%) with black pepper extract. MedPaw has no turmeric.
    • You want everything in one delivery. If you already get tails.com food, adding the chews to your box is simple, and the daily amount is worked out from your dog's profile.
    • Your dog is already on it and doing well. If it's working, there's no need to change.

Neither chew suits a dog with a shellfish allergy: both contain green-lipped mussel, and both contain gluten.

    Switching from tails.com to MedPaw

Swap rather than stack. Remove the joint chews from your next tails.com box before the last date for changes (Deliveries, then "View full delivery details", then edit the item), then start MedPaw the day after your dog's last tails.com chew. Don't give both: they share glucosamine, green-lipped mussel and hyaluronic acid, and tails.com itself says to check with your vet before feeding multiple supplements. Follow the feeding guide on the tub, doubling the usual number of chews for the first three weeks. If your dog takes any medication, check with your vet first.

If nothing has worked so far

If your dog is still stiff or sore after a fair trial of any supplement, see your vet. They may suggest pain relief, weight loss or an omega-3 fish oil at a proper dose, which has the strongest evidence for dogs with arthritis. Read what you can safely give a dog for joint pain and the best fish oil for dogs' joints.

Is MedPaw better than the tails.com joint supplement?

For most dogs, we think so. MedPaw has all six key joint actives with the main amounts per chew on the label and a 60-day money-back guarantee. The tails.com chew has three of the six plus turmeric, no published amounts per chew, almost no reviews and no guarantee we could find.

What's the main difference between MedPaw and the tails.com joint chews?

The formula. Both are soft chews with glucosamine, green-lipped mussel and hyaluronic acid. MedPaw adds chondroitin, MSM and Boswellia; tails.com adds turmeric. MedPaw also lists the main amounts per chew.

Do I need a tails.com subscription to buy its joint supplement?

It launched as an add-on for tails.com subscribers, and tails.com also lists it on its online shop. MedPaw is ordered direct, with no food subscription needed.

Can I give MedPaw and the tails.com joint chews together?

We don't recommend it. They share several actives, so swap rather than stack. tails.com also says to check with your vet before feeding multiple supplements.

Can I keep tails.com food and switch to MedPaw?

Yes. Remove the joint chews from your tails.com box in your account before the last date for changes, and keep the food as it is.

Can I switch from the tails.com joint supplement to MedPaw straight away?

Yes. Stop the tails.com chews and start MedPaw the next day. There's no need for a gap, and you shouldn't give both. Check with your vet first if your dog takes any medication.
