Quick answer: each Lily's Kitchen Joints & Mobility tablet contains 250mg glucosamine, 180mg green-lipped mussel powder, 100mg chondroitin sulphate, 75mg Boswellia serrata concentrate, 10mg turmeric concentrate and 2mg hyaluronic acid, plus 100mg vitamin C and 3mg manganese, in a base of brewer's yeast and magnesium stearate. That's five of the six key joint actives: there's no MSM. It's a well-labelled tablet, but if you want all six actives in a soft chew, we'd recommend MedPaw Hip & Joint Chews instead, with the main amounts per chew on the label and a 60-day money-back guarantee.

Credit where it's due: Lily's Kitchen publishes the amount of every active per tablet, which plenty of joint supplements don't.
Full composition and additives
The composition, in order: D-glucosamine HCl (28%), green-lipped mussel powder (17%), chondroitin sulphate (11%), Boswellia serrata concentrate (7%), brewer's yeast, turmeric root powder concentrate (0.9%), magnesium stearate and sodium hyaluronate. Lily's Kitchen marks the mussel, chondroitin, Boswellia, yeast and turmeric as "natural" ingredients.
Nutritional additives per kg: vitamin C, vitamin E (0.72g) and manganese as manganous sulphate monohydrate (3g). Analytical constituents: crude protein 26%, crude fat 3%, crude ash 6.4%, crude fibre 10% and omega-3 0.32%, at 293kcal per 100g.
It's a complementary food for adult dogs from 12 months. The feeding guide runs from half a tablet a day for dogs of 1 to 9kg up to three to four tablets for 40kg and over, with no loading phase.
Allergens and ingredients to check
There's no separate allergen statement. The tablet contains green-lipped mussel, a mollusc, so it isn't suitable for dogs with a shellfish allergy, and it contains brewer's yeast. The sources of the glucosamine and chondroitin aren't stated. The pack says to consult a vet if your dog has a medical condition or allergies, takes medication, or is pregnant or lactating, and to stop if there's an adverse reaction.
What the evidence says about each active
A 2022 meta-analysis of 72 trials by Barbeau-Grégoire et al. (International Journal of Molecular Sciences) looked at supplements for arthritis pain in dogs and cats:
- Omega-3 (including green-lipped mussel): the strongest evidence of any ingredient for easing arthritis pain. Mussel products were grouped with the omega-3 products. Lily's Kitchen's tablet lists omega-3 at just 0.32%, so it's not a substitute for a proper fish oil dose.
- Glucosamine and chondroitin: the review found "a very marked non-effect" on pain. That applies to every product built on them, MedPaw's glucosamine and chondroitin included. They're widely used to support cartilage, but don't expect pain relief from them.
- Boswellia: not enough evidence on its own to decide either way.
- Turmeric: conflicting results. Lily's Kitchen's 10mg of concentrate per tablet is a small amount, and the curcumin content isn't stated.
- Hyaluronic acid and MSM: only studied as part of combination products, where the authors said more high-quality studies are needed.
What's missing compared with MedPaw
Lily's Kitchen has more glucosamine, chondroitin, green-lipped mussel and Boswellia per tablet than MedPaw has per chew, and adds turmeric and manganese, which MedPaw doesn't contain. What it doesn't have is MSM, which MedPaw includes at 185mg per chew, or zinc. The bigger differences are the format (a tablet that small dogs get in halves) and the lack of a money-back guarantee. Our recommendation: if you want MSM alongside the other five key actives, or a soft chew your dog will take from your hand, choose MedPaw, unless your dog has a shellfish or gluten allergy. Swap rather than stack, give it six to eight weeks, and if you're not happy, email bark@medpaw.co.uk within 60 days of delivery for a refund. Try MedPaw Hip & Joint Chews.
If nothing has worked so far
If your dog is still stiff or sore after a fair trial of any supplement, see your vet. They may suggest pain relief, weight loss or an omega-3 fish oil at a proper dose, which has the strongest evidence for dogs with arthritis.
