Quick answer: both are soft joint chews for dogs. PetLab Co's Joint Care Chew Advanced lists more glucosamine, chondroitin, MSM and green-lipped mussel per chew and adds fish oil, but it lists no hyaluronic acid, vitamin C, vitamin E or zinc, its money-back guarantee only covers first-time buyers, and its subscription is the biggest complaint in the UK reviews we read. MedPaw has all six key joint actives, including hyaluronic acid, a subscription you can pause, change or cancel any time, and a 60-day guarantee for any reason. For most owners we'd recommend MedPaw Hip & Joint Chews, with nothing to send back if it doesn't suit your dog.
Transparency note: this page is written by MedPaw, so we've been careful to show where PetLab Co comes out ahead. Sources: PetLab Co joint chew page, shipping and returns and terms and conditions. Per chew, PetLab Co lists more of the five actives both chews share. Per day the gap is about the same, because a 25kg dog gets three PetLab Co chews or two to three MedPaw chews.
Where PetLab Co falls short
The subscription
About eight in ten of the UK one and two-star reviews we read were about unexpected sign-ups, charges or cancelling (our estimate from a small sample). "I have no idea how I signed up to a subscription that I would never knowingly have done." (UK reviewer, 1 star, March 2026, Trustpilot). PetLab Co's terms say you're billed before each order ships, and its returns page says confirmed orders can't be cancelled except as required by law. PetLab Co says customers only subscribe if they choose to. With MedPaw, you can pause, change or cancel any time from your account, or just email us.
The guarantee only covers first orders
PetLab Co's 60-day guarantee applies only to first-time UK buyers of its joint chews ordering from petlabco.co.uk, one claim per household, and doesn't restart with later subscription deliveries. MedPaw's covers 60 days from delivery, for any reason, and you keep the tub.
No hyaluronic acid or added vitamins
PetLab Co's chew covers five of the six key joint actives but lists no hyaluronic acid, and no vitamin C, vitamin E or zinc. MedPaw includes all six key actives, with the main amounts per chew on the label, plus those three nutrients.
A new formula, with reviews of the old one
PetLab Co replaced its original UK Joint Health Chews with Joint Care Chew Advanced, which it says is a different formulation. The footnote on its product page says the customer quotes there relate to the original chews, not the Advanced one. UK reviewers give PetLab Co about 2.5 out of 5 on Trustpilot from 207 reviews, across all its products. Read the full picture in our PetLab Co reviews.
Do the bigger numbers matter?
PetLab Co's bigger glucosamine and chondroitin figures look impressive, but a 2022 review of 72 trials (Barbeau-Grégoire et al., Int J Mol Sci) found that glucosamine and chondroitin didn't relieve arthritis pain in dogs, while omega-3 had the strongest evidence. So for most owners the practical differences, the subscription, the guarantee and the full set of actives, matter more than milligrams.
Why PetLab Co customers switch to MedPaw
PetLab Co vs MedPaw: the practical differences
| The issue | PetLab Co | MedPaw |
|---|---|---|
| Cancelling | Terms say cancel by emailing the help team; confirmed orders can't be cancelled | Pause, change or cancel any time from your account, or just email us |
| Money back | First-time UK buyers only; may ask for sealed tubs back | 60 days from delivery, for any reason; keep the tub |
| Key actives | Five of six; no hyaluronic acid | All six, including hyaluronic acid |
| Vitamins and minerals | None listed | Vitamin C, vitamin E and zinc |
Our recommendation: if you want all six key joint actives in one soft chew, a guarantee that isn't limited to your first order, and a subscription you control yourself, choose MedPaw. Try MedPaw Hip & Joint Chews.
When PetLab Co might suit your dog instead
- You want the most glucosamine, chondroitin, MSM and green-lipped mussel per chew. PetLab Co lists more of each.
- You'd like fish oil built in. PetLab Co lists 110mg of omega-3 from anchovy oil per chew. If your vet recommends omega-3, ask whether that amount is enough or a dedicated fish oil would suit better.
- Your dog can't have chicken. PetLab Co's chew is pork-flavoured with no chicken in its listed composition, while MedPaw is chicken and bacon flavour.
Switching from PetLab Co to MedPaw
Swap rather than stack: give the last PetLab Co chew one day and start MedPaw the next, rather than giving both. Cancel your PetLab Co subscription before its next order date (see how to cancel a PetLab Co subscription). Give MedPaw six to eight weeks, and if you're not happy, email bark@medpaw.co.uk within 60 days of delivery for a refund. If PetLab Co hasn't helped so far, read PetLab Co Joint Care not working?
If nothing has worked so far
If your dog is still stiff or sore after a fair trial of any supplement, see your vet. They may suggest pain relief, weight loss or an omega-3 fish oil at a proper dose, which has the strongest evidence for dogs with arthritis. Is MedPaw better than PetLab Co?
For most owners, we think so. PetLab Co lists more glucosamine, chondroitin, MSM and green-lipped mussel per chew and adds fish oil, but MedPaw has all six key joint actives including hyaluronic acid, adds vitamins C and E and zinc, has a 60-day guarantee for any reason, and a subscription you can pause or cancel any time.
Which has more glucosamine, MedPaw or PetLab Co?
PetLab Co: 800mg glucosamine HCl per chew, against 170mg in a MedPaw chew. A large 2022 review of 72 trials found glucosamine and chondroitin didn't relieve arthritis pain in dogs, so the amount isn't the whole story.
Does PetLab Co's joint chew contain hyaluronic acid?
Not according to its UK product page, checked on 8 October 2026. It lists glucosamine, MSM, green-lipped mussel, chondroitin, omega-3 from anchovy oil and Boswellia. MedPaw includes hyaluronic acid.
Which has the better money-back guarantee?
Both last 60 days, but PetLab Co's only covers first-time UK buyers of its joint chews from petlabco.co.uk, one claim per household, and it may ask for sealed tubs back. MedPaw's covers any order for 60 days from delivery, for any reason, with nothing to send back.
Can I give MedPaw and PetLab Co together?
There's no need, as the ingredients overlap heavily. Choose one. Check with your vet first if your dog takes any medication.
Can I switch from PetLab Co to MedPaw straight away?
Yes. Stop PetLab Co and start MedPaw the next day. There's no need for a gap, and you shouldn't give both.
