Quick answer: Bob Martin's 3.3 Trustpilot score is dragged down by complaints about its flea treatments and deliveries, not its joint supplements, which have barely any reviews at all. The drawbacks with the joint range are on the label and in the small print: the Joint + Skin chews don't give amounts per chew and a 25kg dog needs five or six a day, Vetzyme tablets have to be halved for dogs up to 21kg and were out of stock at several retailers, and there's no money-back guarantee. If any of that puts you off, we'd recommend trying MedPaw Hip & Joint Chews instead: a soft chew dogs take like a treat, two to three a day even for big dogs after the first three weeks, with all six key joint actives and the main amounts per chew on the label, a subscription you can pause or cancel any time, and a 60-day money-back guarantee with nothing to send back.
Transparency note: this page is written by MedPaw, which makes a competing joint supplement. Reviews are summarised in our own words with links so you can check them. Ratings, labels and policies were checked on 8 October 2026.
The most common Bob Martin complaints and drawbacks
We read around 60 of the most recent Bob Martin reviews on Trustpilot (October 2025 to October 2026). About 22 were 1 or 2 stars, and none mentioned its joint supplements. We've combined what those reviewers complain about with the drawbacks we could verify for the joint range: Vetzyme High Strength Flexible Joint Tablets and the Joint + Skin Care soft chews. Frequencies are our estimates from that sample.
Bob Martin complaints (our Trustpilot sample) and joint range drawbacks
| Complaint or drawback | How often | What reviewers said or what we found |
|---|---|---|
| Flea or tick treatment not working | About 4 in 10 negative reviews | Fleas still there days after treating the pet or the home (not a joint product) |
| Delivery and order mistakes | A few negative reviews | Items missing, the wrong product sent, or delivery not available to the reviewer's area |
| Almost no joint product reviews | Every site we checked | One rating for the Joint + Skin chews at Tesco, none at Sainsbury's, none for Vetzyme at Tesco Marketplace or VetUK |
| No amounts per chew | Joint + Skin chews | Ingredients given as percentages only |
| Lots of chews a day | Joint + Skin chews | Two a day up to 10kg, then one more for every extra 5kg: five or six a day for a 25kg dog |
| Splitting tablets | Vetzyme | Dogs from 5 to 21kg get half a tablet a day |
| Out of stock | Vetzyme | Out of stock at several retailers; one wholesaler lists the 90-tablet High Strength pack as discontinued |
| No money-back guarantee | Brand policy | Unopened returns within 14 days only, and you pay return postage |
"How many chews?" The Joint + Skin small print
The Joint + Skin Care chews (sold in supermarkets as "Joints + Skin & Coat") list glucosamine, chondroitin, green-lipped mussel, salmon oil, eggshell membrane, hyaluronic acid and collagen as percentages, but not how much is in each chew. The guide is two chews a day up to 10kg, then one more for every extra 5kg, so a 25kg dog has five or six a day and a 120-chew tub lasts about three weeks. There's no MSM or Boswellia, and the chews aren't for pregnant or nursing dogs.
"Out of stock" and half tablets: Vetzyme
Vetzyme High Strength publishes its amounts per tablet (225mg glucosamine, 162mg chondroitin, 60mg MSM, per this retailer listing), but it's a tablet, and dogs of 5 to 21kg get half of one, which means splitting and hiding it every day. It has no Boswellia, and the standard Vetzyme Flexible Joint tablet doesn't list chondroitin at all. Vetzyme isn't on Bob Martin's own joint care page, and it was out of stock at VetUK and other retailers we checked. Bob Martin hasn't said it's been discontinued.
The guarantee catch
We found no money-back guarantee. Bob Martin's returns page accepts items within 14 days of delivery, in their original condition and packaging. Opened items aren't accepted, you pay return postage, and delivery charges aren't refunded. So if the chews don't help your dog, you can't send back a tub you've started.
Why Bob Martin customers switch to MedPaw
MedPaw Hip & Joint Chews differ from Bob Martin's joint range on exactly the points above.
Bob Martin vs MedPaw on the drawbacks above
| The complaint | Bob Martin | MedPaw |
|---|---|---|
| Chews per day for a 25kg dog | Joint + Skin: five or six | Two to three (18kg and over), after a double amount for the first three weeks |
| Splitting or hiding tablets | Vetzyme: half a tablet for dogs of 5 to 21kg | Soft chicken and bacon chew, given whole from your hand like a treat |
| Knowing what's in it | Joint + Skin: percentages only, no amounts per chew | All six key joint actives, with the main amounts per chew on the label: MSM 185mg, glucosamine 170mg, chondroitin 70mg, green-lipped mussel 70mg, Boswellia 30mg, plus hyaluronic acid |
| MSM and Boswellia | Vetzyme High Strength: MSM 60mg, no Boswellia. Joint + Skin: neither listed | MSM 185mg and Boswellia 30mg per chew |
| Getting your money back | No guarantee; unopened returns within 14 days, you pay postage | 60 days from delivery, for any reason; email us and keep the tub |
Our recommendation: if you're tired of halving tablets, your dog needs a handful of chews a day, Vetzyme is out of stock where you shop, or you want a guarantee, switch to MedPaw. Swap rather than stack: stop Bob Martin and start MedPaw the next day. Give it six to eight weeks, and if you're not happy, email us within 60 days and we'll refund you. Try MedPaw Hip & Joint Chews.
Bob Martin's rating, in context
Bob Martin is rated 3.3 out of 5 on Trustpilot from 149 reviews, with 64% at 1 star and 25% at 5 stars (checked 8 October 2026). That score covers the whole brand, and in the recent reviews we read it was driven by flea treatments and deliveries rather than joint care. The joint products themselves have almost no ratings: one at Tesco for the Joint, Skin and Coat chews, with no written comment, and none at Sainsbury's. So there's no reliable owner feedback on whether they help. We couldn't access Amazon UK, Pets at Home or Asda.
To be fair to Bob Martin, Vetzyme High Strength publishes its amounts per tablet and is inexpensive, the chews are easy to find in supermarkets, and the company replies to most of its negative reviews.
If nothing has worked so far
If your dog is still stiff or sore after a fair trial of any supplement, see your vet. They may suggest pain relief, weight loss or an omega-3 fish oil at a proper dose, which has the strongest evidence for dogs with arthritis. Our verdict
Bob Martin's reviews are dominated by flea treatment and delivery complaints, and its joint supplements have almost no reviews of their own. What you can check points to practical drawbacks: no amounts per chew and a lot of chews a day on Joint + Skin, half tablets and patchy stock on Vetzyme, and no money-back guarantee. If those matter to you, MedPaw is the alternative we'd recommend. To compare more brands, see the best joint chews for dogs, the best joint tablets for dogs and our cost per month guide.
What are the most common complaints about Bob Martin?
In the recent negative Trustpilot reviews we read, most complaints were about flea and tick treatments not working and about deliveries. None were about joint supplements. For the joint range, the drawbacks we found are no amounts per chew on Joint + Skin, five or six chews a day for a 25kg dog, half tablets and stock problems with Vetzyme, and no money-back guarantee.
Are Bob Martin joint supplements any good?
There aren't enough reviews to judge results. Vetzyme High Strength lists 225mg glucosamine, 162mg chondroitin and 60mg MSM per tablet; the Joint + Skin chews don't give amounts per chew. If you want all six key joint actives with the main amounts on the label and a 60-day money-back guarantee, try MedPaw.
Has Vetzyme been discontinued?
Bob Martin hasn't said so. When we checked, Vetzyme was out of stock at several retailers, one wholesaler listed the 90-tablet High Strength pack as discontinued, and it doesn't appear on Bob Martin's own joint care page.
Can I get a refund on Bob Martin joint supplements?
Only for unopened items returned within 14 days of delivery, at your own postage cost, minus delivery charges. Opened items aren't accepted. MedPaw's guarantee lasts 60 days from delivery and you don't need to send anything back.
What's the best alternative to Bob Martin?
If you want a soft chew your dog takes like a treat, two to three a day even for larger dogs after the first three weeks, with all six key joint actives and a 60-day money-back guarantee, we'd recommend MedPaw Hip & Joint Chews. Swap rather than stack, and give it six to eight weeks.
Can I switch from Bob Martin to MedPaw straight away?
Yes. Stop Vetzyme or the Joint + Skin chews and start MedPaw the next day. There's no need for a gap, and you shouldn't give both. Check with your vet first if your dog takes any medication.
