Quick answer: YuMOVE gives you more glucosamine and green-lipped mussel per day for medium and large dogs, and costs less per day, especially if you buy its big packs or subscribe. MedPaw is a soft chew with a broader formula: it adds chondroitin, MSM and Boswellia, lists the main amounts per chew on the label, and its loading phase is shorter (three weeks rather than a month). If your dog takes tablets and price matters most, YuMOVE is hard to beat. If your dog won't take tablets, or you want chondroitin and MSM in the mix, MedPaw is the better fit.
Transparency note: we make MedPaw, so we've tried to be extra careful here. Every figure below comes from the published labels and prices on each brand's own website in October 2026, and we've been clear where YuMOVE comes out ahead. Prices change; check before you buy.

What your dog actually gets per day
Per-chew and per-tablet figures don't tell the whole story because the number you give depends on your dog's weight. Here's the daily intake at each brand's maintenance dose (after each brand's loading phase).
Daily intake by dog weight (maintenance dose)
| Dog weight | MedPaw (chews a day) | YuMOVE (tablets a day) |
|---|---|---|
| 10kg | 2 chews: glucosamine 340mg, mussel 140mg, chondroitin 140mg, MSM 370mg | 1 tablet: glucosamine 250mg, ActivEase 150mg |
| 25kg | 2 to 3 chews: glucosamine 340 to 510mg, mussel 140 to 210mg, chondroitin 140 to 210mg, MSM 370 to 555mg | 2 tablets: glucosamine 500mg, ActivEase 300mg |
| 40kg | 2 to 3 chews: glucosamine 340 to 510mg, mussel 140 to 210mg, chondroitin 140 to 210mg, MSM 370 to 555mg | 3 tablets: glucosamine 750mg, ActivEase 450mg |
What that shows, honestly: for small and medium dogs the two are broadly similar on glucosamine, with MedPaw adding chondroitin, MSM and Boswellia. For large dogs, YuMOVE delivers noticeably more glucosamine and green-lipped mussel per day.
Cost per month
Based on 30 days at the maintenance dose. MedPaw is priced at £29.95 for 60 chews on our product page at the time of writing. YuMOVE prices are single-purchase prices from yumove.co.uk; YuMOVE also offers 20% off on subscription.
Approximate monthly cost (October 2026)
| Dog weight | MedPaw chews | YuMOVE tablets (30 pack) | YuMOVE tablets (300 pack) | YuMOVE Daily Bites (150) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 10kg | £29.95 | £18.57 | £9.00 | about £12.90 |
| 25kg | £29.95 to £44.93 | £37.14 | £18.00 | about £25.70 |
| 40kg | £29.95 to £44.93 | £55.71 | £27.00 | about £38.60 |
Both brands double the dose at the start: MedPaw for the first three weeks, YuMOVE for the first month. Even so, if you buy YuMOVE's 300-tablet pack, it's the cheaper option at every weight. Bought in single 30-packs, YuMOVE costs more than MedPaw for large dogs. For a full cross-brand picture, see how much dog joint supplements cost per month.
What the evidence says about both
Neither brand has published a clinical trial of its finished product. Both are built mainly on glucosamine and green-lipped mussel. A large 2022 review of 72 trials found the strongest evidence for omega-3 fatty acids in dogs with arthritis, and found that glucosamine and chondroitin didn't relieve arthritis pain. Neither MedPaw nor YuMOVE's standard adult product is a high-dose omega-3 supplement, so if your vet recommends omega-3s, you'll want a dedicated fish oil alongside either. See our guide to the best fish oil for dogs' joints.
YuMOVE's "No.1 vet recommended" claim is based on its own 2025 survey of 200 respondents, and its "results in 3 weeks" claim comes from a customer survey. Neither is a clinical trial. Read more in is YuMOVE worth it?
Which should you choose?
Choose YuMOVE if:
- Your dog takes tablets without a fuss
- Your dog is large and you want the most glucosamine and mussel per day
- Price per day is your priority and you can buy the 300 pack or subscribe
- Your dog has a gluten sensitivity (MedPaw contains brewer's yeast)
Choose MedPaw if:
- Your dog won't take tablets, or you're tired of hiding them in cheese
- You want chondroitin, MSM and Boswellia as well as glucosamine and mussel
- You'd prefer a shorter loading phase (three weeks rather than a month)
- You want the amount of each main active printed on the label
Choose neither if:
- Your dog has a shellfish allergy. Both contain green-lipped mussel. Flexadin Advanced is one option without mussel or krill; see the best joint supplements for dogs in the UK.
- Your dog is limping or clearly in pain. See your vet first, and read what you can safely give a dog for joint pain.
Switching from YuMOVE to MedPaw (or back)
You can switch straight across; there's no need for a gap. If you're moving to YuMOVE from another joint supplement, YuMOVE says you can skip its double-dose month. Whichever you choose, give it six to eight weeks, and up to three months, before judging. Keep a weekly note of how your dog gets up, walks and handles stairs so you can compare fairly.

Is MedPaw better than YuMOVE?
It depends on your dog. YuMOVE gives large dogs more glucosamine and green-lipped mussel per day and is cheaper per day in its big packs. MedPaw is a soft chew that adds chondroitin, MSM and Boswellia and has a shorter loading phase. Neither has published a clinical trial of the finished product.
Is MedPaw cheaper than YuMOVE?
Not usually. YuMOVE's 300-tablet pack and subscription make it cheaper per day at every weight. Bought in single 30-tablet packs, YuMOVE costs more than MedPaw for large dogs. Both double the dose at the start, MedPaw for three weeks and YuMOVE for a month.
Does YuMOVE contain chondroitin?
No. YuMOVE Joint Support for Adult Dogs contains glucosamine HCl, ActivEase (green-lipped mussel and hoki), hyaluronic acid, vitamins and manganese, but no chondroitin. MedPaw contains 70mg chondroitin per chew.
Can I give MedPaw and YuMOVE together?
There's no need, as they overlap heavily. If you want to add something, an omega-3 fish oil is a better complement to either. Check with your vet if your dog takes other medication.
Which is better for a dog that won't take tablets?
MedPaw Hip & Joint Chews or YuMOVE Daily Bites, both soft chews. YuMOVE Bites contain the same actives as the YuMOVE tablet; MedPaw adds chondroitin, MSM and Boswellia.
