Quick answer: Pedigree Multivitamins Joint Care chews are rated well where we could find reviews, but they have clear drawbacks. There are only two joint actives, glucosamine and green-lipped mussel, given as percentages rather than amounts per chew, with no chondroitin, MSM, hyaluronic acid or Boswellia. Bigger dogs need up to four chews a day, so a 30-chew bag can last about a week. And on 8 October 2026 it was hard to buy: Tesco listed it as out of stock and price-comparison site trolley.co.uk showed it out of stock at every store it tracks. If you're looking for something more complete, we'd recommend trying MedPaw Hip & Joint Chews instead: a soft chew with all six key joint actives and the main amounts per chew on the label, a subscription you can pause or cancel any time, and a 60-day money-back guarantee with nothing to send back.
Transparency note: this page is written by MedPaw, which makes a competing joint supplement. We couldn't read the text of Pedigree's reviews, so we don't quote any; we've set out the drawbacks we could verify from retailer listings, with links so you can check them. Ratings, labels and availability were checked on 8 October 2026.
The most common Pedigree Multivitamins Joint complaints and drawbacks
Pedigree Multivitamins was Mars Petcare's first move into dog supplements, launched in 2023 as a range of soft chews for joints, digestion and immunity. The Joint Care chews have been sold at supermarkets and pet retailers including Tesco, Waitrose and Jollyes. The ratings we found are positive, but we couldn't read the individual reviews, so rather than guess at complaints, the table below sets out the drawbacks we could verify.
Pedigree Multivitamins Joint Care drawbacks (checked 8 October 2026)
| Drawback | What we found |
|---|---|
| Only two joint actives | Glucosamine (2.2%) and green-lipped mussel (2.1%); no chondroitin, MSM, hyaluronic acid or Boswellia |
| No amounts per chew | Actives are given as percentages only, not milligrams per chew |
| Hard to find | Out of stock at Tesco; trolley.co.uk showed it out of stock at every store it tracks; zooplus's old product page no longer shows it |
| Several chews a day for bigger dogs | Three a day at 21 to 30kg and four a day over 30kg, from a 30-chew bag |
| Not for small dogs or young puppies | "Not suitable for dogs under 4 kg or puppies under the age of 9 months" |
| Allergens | Contains molluscs and crustaceans, cereals, seeds and chicken liver |
Two joint actives, and no amounts per chew
The ingredient list on Tesco and Jollyes names glucosamine at 2.2% and green-lipped mussel at 2.1%, alongside vegetable derivatives, cereals, seeds, chicken liver and vitamins. It doesn't say how many milligrams are in each chew. A 180g bag holds 30 chews, so if the chews are equal in weight, that works out at roughly 130mg glucosamine and 125mg green-lipped mussel per chew (our estimate). There's no chondroitin, MSM, hyaluronic acid or Boswellia.
Hard to find right now
When we checked on 8 October 2026, Tesco showed "This product's currently out of stock", trolley.co.uk showed it out of stock in every store it tracks, and zooplus's old product page no longer showed it. We couldn't check Pedigree's own website, so we can't say whether this is temporary. If you've been relying on it, that's a problem: a joint supplement only helps if it's given every day.
Up to four chews a day
The feeding guide is one chew a day for 4 to 10kg, two for 11 to 20kg, three for 21 to 30kg and four for 31kg and over, and you're told to reduce your dog's main meal to allow for them. With 30 chews in a bag, that's a month for a small dog but only about a week for a large one. The bag should also be used within a month of opening.
The guarantee catch
We couldn't find a Pedigree money-back guarantee for the chews on the retailer listings we checked. Pedigree is sold through supermarkets and pet shops, so if it doesn't suit your dog, you're relying on each shop's returns policy.

Pedigree Multivitamins Joint Care vs MedPaw on the things that matter to owners
| The complaint | Pedigree | MedPaw |
|---|---|---|
| What's in it | Glucosamine and green-lipped mussel only | All six key joint actives: glucosamine, chondroitin, MSM, green-lipped mussel, hyaluronic acid and Boswellia |
| Knowing how much is in each chew | Percentages only | The main amounts per chew on the label: MSM 185mg, glucosamine 170mg, chondroitin 70mg, green-lipped mussel 70mg, Boswellia 30mg |
| Getting hold of it | Out of stock at Tesco and at every store trolley.co.uk tracks (8 October 2026) | Order direct from medpaw.co.uk, or subscribe and pause, change or cancel any time |
| Small dogs | Not suitable under 4kg | Feeding guide starts at one chew a day for dogs up to 4kg |
| Getting your money back | No guarantee we could find; shop's returns policy | 60 days from delivery, for any reason; email us and keep the tub |
Our recommendation: if you've struggled to find Pedigree's joint chews, or you want a chew with more than two joint actives and the amounts on the label, switch to MedPaw. Swap rather than stack: stop Pedigree and start MedPaw the next day. Give it six to eight weeks, and if you're not happy, email us within 60 days of delivery and we'll refund you. Try MedPaw Hip & Joint Chews.
Pedigree's rating, in context
Pedigree Multivitamins Joint Care is rated 4.7 out of 5 from 54 reviews on Tesco, and trolley.co.uk shows 4.5 from 51 reviews. Jollyes and Tesco Ireland show none (checked 8 October 2026). We couldn't read the text of the Tesco reviews, so we can't tell you what owners praised: whether it was taste, price or a real change in their dog. A good rating for a chew dogs enjoy doesn't tell you how much glucosamine is in each one, or whether it will help your dog's joints.
To be fair to Pedigree, it's a soft chew most dogs will happily eat, it's inexpensive, and the reviews we could see are positive.
If nothing has worked so far
If your dog is still stiff or sore after a fair trial of any supplement, see your vet. They may suggest pain relief, weight loss or an omega-3 fish oil at a proper dose, which has the strongest evidence for dogs with arthritis. Our verdict
Pedigree's joint chews are popular with the owners who've rated them, but they contain only two joint actives, don't publish amounts per chew, take several chews a day for bigger dogs, and were out of stock at Tesco and at every store trolley.co.uk tracks when we checked. If you want a chew with all six key joint actives and 60 days to judge it, MedPaw is the alternative we'd recommend. More on Pedigree: MedPaw vs Pedigree and what's in Pedigree joint chews.
What are the most common complaints about Pedigree Multivitamins Joint?
We couldn't read the individual reviews, and the ratings we found are positive. The drawbacks we could verify are that it has only two joint actives (glucosamine and green-lipped mussel), doesn't give amounts per chew, needs up to four chews a day for bigger dogs, isn't suitable under 4kg, and was out of stock at Tesco and at every store trolley.co.uk tracks on 8 October 2026.
Is Pedigree Multivitamins Joint any good?
It's well rated at Tesco, and it's an easy soft chew. But with only glucosamine and green-lipped mussel, given as percentages, it's a basic formula. If you want all six key joint actives with the main amounts on the label and a 60-day money-back guarantee, MedPaw is the alternative we'd recommend.
Why can't I find Pedigree Multivitamins Joint Care?
On 8 October 2026, Tesco listed it as out of stock and trolley.co.uk showed it out of stock at every store it tracks. We couldn't confirm with Pedigree whether it's been discontinued or is temporarily unavailable.
How much glucosamine is in Pedigree joint chews?
Pedigree gives glucosamine as 2.2% of the chew rather than an amount per chew. With 30 chews in a 180g bag, that's roughly 130mg per chew if the chews are equal in weight. MedPaw has 170mg glucosamine per chew, plus chondroitin, MSM, hyaluronic acid and Boswellia.
What's the best alternative to Pedigree Multivitamins Joint?
If you want a soft chew with more than two joint actives, we'd recommend MedPaw Hip & Joint Chews: glucosamine, chondroitin, MSM, green-lipped mussel, hyaluronic acid and Boswellia, with a 60-day money-back guarantee. Swap rather than stack, and give it six to eight weeks.
Can I switch from Pedigree to MedPaw straight away?
Yes. Stop Pedigree and start MedPaw the next day. There's no need for a gap, and you shouldn't give both, as both contain glucosamine and green-lipped mussel. Check with your vet first if your dog takes any medication.
