Quick answer: both are soft chews, but they take very different approaches. Nutripaw Hip & Joint Treats Plus is built on KynoSil (a silicon ingredient), fish oil and fish collagen, contains no glucosamine, chondroitin, MSM, green-lipped mussel or Boswellia, and doesn't publish how much of each ingredient is in a chew. MedPaw contains all six key joint actives with the main amounts per chew on the label, and its guarantee is simpler. We'd recommend MedPaw Hip & Joint Chews for most owners who want a classic joint formula they can check, a subscription they can pause or cancel any time, and 60 days to judge it with nothing to send back.
Transparency note: we make MedPaw, so read this with that in mind. Every Nutripaw figure below comes from its own product page and policies, checked on 8 October 2026, and we've been clear where Nutripaw may suit a dog better. Labels change; check before you buy.

Where Nutripaw falls short
You can't see how much you're getting
Nutripaw names KynoSil, EPA and DHA, L-lysine and green tea extract as key ingredients but gives no amounts for them, and it gives only percentages for the rest. There are no analytical constituents on the page. MedPaw puts the main amounts per chew on the label, so you can see what a day's dose adds up to.
No classic joint actives
The Plus composition has no glucosamine, chondroitin, MSM, green-lipped mussel or Boswellia. Nutripaw presents that as a deliberate choice, describing other brands as "traditional and generic formulas that focus primarily on glucosamine, MSM, or green-lipped mussel". If you want those ingredients, Nutripaw's current joint chew doesn't have them. Its page also says KynoSil is "clinically studied in humans and animals" but doesn't link to a study.
The subscription is its biggest complaint
About three in four of the one and two-star Trustpilot reviews we read were about unexpected subscriptions and charges, for example: "Be aware that this company will sign you up automatically to a monthly subscription!" (Lindz C., 1 star, September 2026). Our Nutripaw reviews page has the full picture, and our guide on how to cancel a Nutripaw subscription walks you through it.
A narrower guarantee than it sounds
Nutripaw's refund policy limits the guarantee to one opened tub per household, after daily use, and excludes dogs that don't like the taste or smell. Its product page says 365 days while its FAQ says 45. MedPaw's guarantee is 60 days from delivery, for any reason, and you keep the tub.
Why Nutripaw customers switch to MedPaw
Nutripaw vs MedPaw on the things owners care about
| The issue | Nutripaw | MedPaw |
|---|---|---|
| Knowing what's in it | Amounts per chew not published | The main amounts per chew on the label |
| Joint actives | No glucosamine, chondroitin, MSM, green-lipped mussel or Boswellia | All six key joint actives |
| Subscription | The most common complaint in its one and two-star reviews | Pause, change or cancel any time from your account, or just email us |
| Getting your money back | One opened tub per household, after daily use; taste excluded | 60 days from delivery, for any reason; email us and keep the tub |
Our recommendation: if you want a joint chew with glucosamine, chondroitin, MSM, green-lipped mussel, hyaluronic acid and Boswellia, with the main amounts on the label and a simple 60-day guarantee, choose MedPaw. Give it six to eight weeks, and if you're not happy, email us within 60 days and we'll refund you. Try MedPaw Hip & Joint Chews.
When Nutripaw might suit your dog instead
To be fair to Nutripaw, it may be the better pick if:
- Your dog has a shellfish allergy. MedPaw contains green-lipped mussel, a mollusc, so it isn't suitable. Nutripaw's Plus has no shellfish in its composition, though it does contain fish.
- Your dog is sensitive to gluten. MedPaw contains gluten from brewer's yeast. Nutripaw's FAQ says its products contain no wheat, and the Plus composition lists no cereals, though it does contain inactivated yeast, so ask Nutripaw if your dog is very sensitive.
- You want fish oil in the chew. Omega-3 from fish oil has the strongest evidence for dogs with arthritis, and Nutripaw's Plus contains salmon and other fish oil, which aren't among MedPaw's listed actives. Nutripaw doesn't publish how much EPA and DHA that provides, though, so a dedicated fish oil at a proper dose is the more reliable route.
Switching from Nutripaw to MedPaw
Swap rather than stack. Stop Nutripaw and start MedPaw the next day. The usual amount is 1 chew a day up to 4kg, 2 a day for 5 to 17kg and 2 to 3 a day for 18kg and over, doubled for the first three weeks. If you're on a Nutripaw subscription, cancel or pause it before your next billing date so you're not charged for another tub.
If nothing has worked so far
If your dog is still stiff or sore after a fair trial of any supplement, see your vet. They may suggest pain relief, weight loss or an omega-3 fish oil at a proper dose, which has the strongest evidence for dogs with arthritis. Is MedPaw or Nutripaw better for joints?
They're built differently. MedPaw contains all six key joint actives, with the main amounts per chew on the label. Nutripaw's Plus is built on KynoSil, fish oil and fish collagen, with no glucosamine, chondroitin, MSM, green-lipped mussel or Boswellia, and no amounts per chew. If you want a classic joint formula you can check, we'd recommend MedPaw.
Does Nutripaw contain glucosamine?
Not the current Hip & Joint Treats Plus: glucosamine isn't in its published composition. Nutripaw's older Hip & Joint Treats did list glucosamine, but that isn't the joint chew it now promotes.
Does Nutripaw have a loading phase?
No. Its product page gives a fixed daily serving by weight and says you can double it if you see no change by week 4. MedPaw is doubled for the first three weeks.
Which has the better guarantee?
MedPaw's is 60 days from delivery, for any reason, with nothing to send back. Nutripaw advertises 365 days, but its refund policy limits it to one opened tub per household after daily use and excludes dogs that don't like the taste or smell.
Can I give MedPaw and Nutripaw together?
We'd swap rather than stack. Stop Nutripaw and start MedPaw the next day. Check with your vet first if your dog takes any medication.
Is MedPaw suitable for dogs with allergies?
MedPaw contains mollusc (green-lipped mussel) and gluten (brewer's yeast), so it isn't suitable for dogs with a shellfish allergy. Nutripaw's Plus contains fish. Check any label with your vet if your dog has a known allergy.
