Quick answer: Superdog Joints & Bones has become hard to buy. When we checked on 8 October 2026, Vitabiotics' own Superdog page redirected to its homepage and a search of its shop for "superdog" found nothing, Superdrug said it was "no longer available online", and 121 Pharmacy showed it out of stock. Ocado still listed it. Vitabiotics hasn't published a discontinuation notice that we could find. The name has also changed: the older pack was called Vitavet Superdog Joint & Bones. If you're tired of hunting for it, we'd recommend trying MedPaw Hip & Joint Chews instead: a soft chew you order direct, with all six key joint actives and a 60-day money-back guarantee.
Transparency note: this page is written by MedPaw, which makes a competing joint supplement. Stock, names and product details come from Vitabiotics' site and UK retailers, linked so you can check them. Everything was checked on 8 October 2026; stock can change quickly, so check before you order.
Is Superdog Joints & Bones out of stock or discontinued?
Here's what we found on 8 October 2026:
- It's gone from Vitabiotics' website. The product link vitabiotics.com/superdog/joints-bones and the newer product page both land on the Vitabiotics homepage, and a search of the site for "superdog" returned "0 results". The Superdog Health & Vitality page redirects the same way.
- Superdrug no longer sells it online. Its listing says: "We're sorry but this product is no longer available online", with a notify-me button.
- Other sellers are out. 121 Pharmacy shows "Sorry, out of stock", and eBay's product page for the older 30-tablet pack is marked "CURRENTLY SOLD OUT".
- Some listings remain. Ocado still listed the 60-tablet tub at £18.95, and its older 30-tablet Vitavet listing at £8.95, both with an add button. trolley.co.uk showed offers on Amazon and eBay. Boots still has a product page, but it showed no price.
- No discontinuation notice. We couldn't find any statement from Vitabiotics that Superdog has been withdrawn, so we can't say for certain that it has been discontinued. But with no product page on the maker's own site, we wouldn't count on finding it for long.
Superdog has very few reviews to help you decide whether it's worth chasing: none at Ocado or Superdrug, and three five-star eBay reviews from 2018 and 2019. For the full list of drawbacks, see our Superdog Joints & Bones reviews.
Vitavet Superdog is now just Superdog
If you've been searching for Vitavet Superdog Joint & Bones, it's the same product under an older name. The 30-tablet box was sold as "Vitavet Superdog Joint & Bones", from Vitabiotics. The current pack is a 60-tablet tub sold as "Superdog Joints & Bones", or "Vitabiotics SuperDog Joints & Bones" at Boots. We don't know exactly when the name changed.
Has the formula changed?
Not as far as we can see. Ocado shows the same ingredient list for the old Vitavet box and the new tub: glucosamine hydrochloride 18%, calcium carbonate 9%, chondroitin sulphate 5%, MSM 2%, linseed oil 1%, green-lipped mussel 0.5% and ginger root, with the same vitamins and trace elements. The feeding guide is also the same: one tablet a day for 5 to 21kg, one to two for 22 to 33kg and two to three for 34 to 45kg. One Ocado listing gives the small dog band as 5 to 24kg, so check the label on your pack. Neither pack gives the amount of each active per tablet. See Superdog's ingredients explained.
Why Superdog customers switch to MedPaw
If you're looking for a replacement anyway, here's how MedPaw differs on the things that make Superdog hard to buy and hard to judge.
Superdog vs MedPaw on availability and the everyday drawbacks
| The issue | Superdog Joints & Bones | MedPaw |
|---|---|---|
| Getting hold of it | No longer on Vitabiotics' website; no longer online at Superdrug; out of stock at 121 Pharmacy | Ordered online direct from us |
| Format | Chewable tablet | Soft chicken and bacon chew, given from your hand like a treat |
| What's in it | Glucosamine, chondroitin, MSM and a little green-lipped mussel; no hyaluronic acid or Boswellia; no amounts per tablet | All six key joint actives, with the main amounts per chew on the label: MSM 185mg, glucosamine 170mg, chondroitin 70mg, green-lipped mussel 70mg, Boswellia 30mg, plus hyaluronic acid |
| Getting your money back | No guarantee we could find; retailer's returns policy applies | 60 days from delivery, for any reason; email us and keep the tub |
| Never running out | No subscription | Subscribe, then pause, change or cancel any time from your account, or just email us |
To be fair to Superdog, the few reviews that exist are positive, it's labelled gluten free, and it adds a broad mix of vitamins and minerals. Its label says not to give it to dogs with a fish or shellfish allergy, and MedPaw contains green-lipped mussel (a mollusc) and gluten from brewer's yeast, so neither suits a dog with a shellfish allergy.
Our recommendation: if you can't find Superdog, your dog would rather have a soft chew, or you'd like a guarantee in case it doesn't suit, switch to MedPaw rather than waiting for stock. Start the day after your last tablet, use the double dose for the first three weeks, and give it six to eight weeks. If you're not happy, email us within 60 days and we'll refund you. Try MedPaw Hip & Joint Chews.
If nothing has worked so far
If your dog is still stiff or sore after a fair trial of any supplement, see your vet. They may suggest pain relief, weight loss or an omega-3 fish oil at a proper dose, which has the strongest evidence for dogs with arthritis. Read what you can safely give a dog for joint pain and the best fish oil for dogs' joints.

Has Superdog Joints & Bones been discontinued?
We couldn't find a discontinuation notice. But on 8 October 2026 it had gone from Vitabiotics' own website, Superdrug said it was no longer available online and 121 Pharmacy was out of stock. Ocado still listed it.
Why can't I find Superdog on the Vitabiotics website?
Its Superdog pages now redirect to the Vitabiotics homepage, and a search for "superdog" on the site returns no results. Vitabiotics hasn't said why on any page we could find.
Is Vitavet Superdog the same as Superdog Joints & Bones?
Yes. Vitavet Superdog Joint & Bones was the older 30-tablet box. The current 60-tablet tub is sold as Superdog Joints & Bones, and Ocado shows the same ingredients for both.
Where can I still buy Superdog Joints & Bones?
Ocado still listed it on 8 October 2026, and some sellers on Amazon and eBay had offers. It was no longer available online at Superdrug and out of stock at 121 Pharmacy.
What can I give my dog instead of Superdog?
We'd recommend MedPaw Hip & Joint Chews: a soft chew given like a treat, with all six key joint actives, the main amounts per chew on the label and a 60-day money-back guarantee with nothing to send back.
Can I switch from Superdog to MedPaw straight away?
Yes. Stop Superdog and start MedPaw the next day. There's no need for a gap, and you shouldn't give both. Check with your vet first if your dog takes any medication.
